This is the first in a series of posts I’ll title, “Games I Want to See on the iPhone”.
If you were a kid growing up in the 80s, it was highly likely you had a Commodore 64 or had a friend who had one (or both). If you were a gamer growing up in the 80s, not only might you have had a Commodore 64, you also probably played at least a few games from Infocom. Zork, Planetfall, Deadline, A Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy…the list goes on and on.
Infocom games were entirely text based (yes, children, that means no graphics…) and yet were remarkably compelling. The amount of time so many of us spent consumed in an number of Infocom games is, without question, staggering.
We won’t get into the history of Infocom here, but this post is a call to Activision to dust off the Infocom collection and get them published for the iPhone and iPod touch. At $0.99, any of these games would be an absolute steal. Moreover, the platform is perfect for such a game. Yes, typing in all your commands might seem like a pain, but with storylines as strong as what Infocom delivered, you would quickly forget how much you dislike typing on your mobile device.
