At first, the control system seemed poorly designed and difficult to use. However, the further I played into the game, the more I began to master it. Before too long, I was able to control The Dark Raider with little to no difficulty. The firing system, on the other hand, got only slightly better with increased game play. I suspect with more time it will continue to improve. Fortunately, your character is tough enough to withstand the number of hits he takes thanks to poor firing on your part.
As you play through Dark Raider, you will find yourself earning new weapons including a pistol, a shotgun, grenades, a rocket launcher, a flame thrower, fireballs, and blades. I found some weapons to be better than others, but either way, the variety is nice as it breaks up the game play and adjusts the manner in which you approach combat.
The presentation of the game is well done for a top-down adventure game. I wouldn’t call the graphic amazing, but they are good and definitely not a point of distraction. I also thoroughly enjoyed the lighting effects created by the lit / unlit torches throughout the dungeons. The game offers ten soundtracks and good 3D sound which really amplifies the game experience and helps to immerse the player.
I would definitely recommend Dark Raider to anyone who is looking for a fun adventure game that isn’t too challenging. It offers quality game play, an interesting story line, and a good overall adventure.
