When I first ran across Five Minutes to Kill Yourself, I was intrigued. I had seen the preview on Touch Arcade and liked the look of it. I had never run across it on Adult Swim before…guess I was a little out of it.
Anyhow, I took the plunge and grabbed the game. All in all, it’s ok…fun for a little while, but it wears thin rapidly. Yes, there are lots of different methods for killing yourself…staples, copier, electrocution, anvils, paper cutter, pinata, etc., but in the end you’re just trying to kill yourself as fast as possible. As such, it’s a game of speed. That, to me, makes it less fun. I enjoyed exploring and finding newer and more creative ways to end my life. But…when time is of the essence, exploration isn’t the core objective.
I played Five Minutes to Kill Yourself approximately ten times and found myself less entertained by it with each new round. Moreover, Adult Swim is asking $2.99 for the game. Is it worth it? I would have to say you (come on $2.99 is nothing!). However, don’t expect this to be a stand by game you will return to over and over again. Five Minutes to Kill Yourself is good for a cheap laugh and that’s about it.
